Today, Friday, we are headed to Georgetown, the third oldest city in SC behind Charleston and Beaufort. After we’d anchored last night, as the sun was dropping below the horizon, Russ noticed two huge birds flying near the tree tops about ¾ mile away. Out comes the spyglass, and sure enough… bald eagles! Sweet. This morning we caught a better glimpse of one as he sat in a dead tree near the creek, no doubt aiming to have fish for breakfast.
We see quite a few pontoon excursion boats every day, mostly since mid-Georgia. This one is passing by Estherville Plantation as we approach Georgetown, about 4 miles to the south.
