We Made It Across!

While we didn’t make it to the Bahamas before Christmas, at least we were able to cross before New Years.

Our short crossing weather window & our desire to make it to Great Harbour Cay in the Berrys (130 miles) required an overnight offshore. While we could have gone fast & made it in daylight, we are conserving our diesel so we won’t have to fuel up until back in Florida. Fortunately, a full moon showed us the way.

Even the sunrise seemed excited we made it!

We avoid Nassau at all costs & this is why – How many times do we need to get chased by pirates?!

A rare, dead-calm day anchored in our (so far) semi-private corner of Elizabeth Harbour in George Town, Exuma.

Lori multitasking – jewelry making with a view while supervising the sheets drying. At least our “laundry in a bucket” days are over – our (mini) washer/dryer combo does a better job washing, but line drying is best.

This is why we come!

We’ll be in the George Town area for a month or so, before slowly heading slowly north thru the rest of the Exumas, Eleuthera & the Abacos.

  1. We’re looking forward to crossing paths this winter for longer than a wave and hello. Plus, we can always use some PDQ knowledge!

  2. Congratulations on another successful crossing to the Bahamas. Hanging out in Georgetown for a month or so is on my bucket list. That pic and the water on the paddle board is incredible. Enjoy the time there.

    • Thank you! The earlier one arrives, the more settled the weather. Betting by later in Jan through mid February conditions won’t be so great. the calm days are more cherished then!
Rent a villa and a small boat, or St Francis on Stocking Island has rooms and new house boats.
