Name and Design - by Benj

Deciding on a new boat brings up the next question … a name.  We’ve had our list for quite a while and came up with a new one this morning: The Pearl.  This is just a rough sketch our son drew during breakfast on a scrap piece of paper.  We’ll work from this for a graphic for the hulls.  Why “The Pearl”?  Johnny Deep’s famous line, “It’s The Pearl“, John Steinbeck’s novel, the graphic possibilities of the 2 halves of an oyster shell & it will even fit on the limited area of the sugar scoop transom steps.

Three years of investigation & study have brought us back to one of our original choices: A Maine Cat 41.  We’re drawing up a contract for hull #21.  She will be completed & customized for us during the winter with a spring delivery date!
